Kuwait concludes training camp on losing note

CAIRO, Jan 20: The Kuwait concluded its training camp in Cairo, Egypt, with a 2-0 defeat against the Uganda at Cairo Stadium.
The Kuwait camp, which commenced on January 9, included a friendly match against the Libyan national team, resulting in a 3-1 loss. These preparations are crucial for the upcoming matches against Qatar in March, part of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, as well as the 2027 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia.International players are set to rejoin their respective clubs today, gearing up for the upcoming Emir Cup competitions starting next Friday.
Portuguese coach Rui Pinto, leading the team, made strategic changes to the squad that faced Libya. The lineup featured Abdul Rahman Al Majdali in goal, and in defense, Suleiman Bormia, Mishari Ghannam, Sami Al Sanea, and Fahd Al Hajri. The midfield included Ahmed Al Dhafiri, Abdul Mohsen Al Ajmi, and Athbi Shehab, while Faisal Zayed and the attacking duo were Shabib Al-Khalidi and Bandar Al-Salama.
Despite Pinto’s efforts to alter the course of the match by introducing Othman Al-Shammari, Nasser Falih, and Ali Khalaf, the Uganda secured an early lead in the third minute and solidified its advantage in the second half. Despite changes made by Pinto, the final score remained unchanged.
