KUWAIT CITY, Oct 21: Air traffic controllers are the safety valve in maintaining the security and safety of Kuwaiti airspace, affirmed Acting Director General of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Duaij Al-Otaibi, on Monday.
Speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the occasion of the DGCA’s celebration of International Air Traffic Control Day, Al-Otaibi emphasized that the role of air traffic controllers is among the most challenging professions due to the heavy responsibilities they carry. The nature of their work demands the highest levels of vigilance and precision around the clock to ensure the safe and efficient management of flights daily.
He underscored the DGCA’s commitment to modernizing the infrastructure of Kuwait’s air navigation sector by equipping it with the latest international monitoring and navigation systems. This technical advancement, he noted, is accompanied by strategic plans to qualify and train young Kuwaiti talent to sustain the sector's excellence with national capabilities.
Al-Otaibi expressed deep appreciation to the air traffic controllers for their dedication, calling on them to continue their collaborative efforts to uphold aviation safety standards. These efforts, he noted, contribute directly to supporting the national economy and guaranteeing the safety of all travelers across Kuwaiti airspace.
To mark the occasion, the DGCA held a celebratory event under the slogan “Hand in Hand, the Journey Continues” at the main administrative building of Kuwait International Airport. The event was attended by various leaders and personnel from the aviation sector.
The ceremony featured a visual presentation showcasing the critical role of air traffic controllers in managing air traffic and operational processes.
