KUWAIT CITY, May 8: Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior announced that private fishing boats and leisure boats will be allowed to sail during daylight hours starting Sunday, May 10, 2026, from 5:00 am to 7:00 pm.
The ministry said the decision was issued by the General Directorate of Coast Guard after evaluating the current situation and aims to balance allowing marine enthusiasts to carry out their activities while maintaining maritime safety and security.
Director General of the Coast Guard, Brigadier General (Navy) Sheikh Mubarak Ali Yousef Al-Sabah, urged seafarers to remain within the designated permitted areas according to approved maritime maps and avoid approaching oil facilities and other vital installations to ensure public safety. He also stressed the importance of keeping the Automatic Identification System (AIS) activated at all times while at sea to enhance maritime monitoring and facilitate rapid response when necessary.
The ministry added that owners of recreational boats and fishing vessels wishing to enter Kuwait Bay must obtain a QR code from the Environment Public Authority through the Sahel application.
Authorities affirmed that the Coast Guard will continue monitoring the maritime situation around the clock and called on all seafarers to comply with the issued regulations and safety instructions.
