Kuwait Coast Guard foils drug smuggling bid; 13 held in security campaign

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 24: The General Directorate of Kuwait Coast Guard (KCG) managed to thwart an attempt to smuggle drugs by sea into Kuwait. After the Maritime Security Administration received information about drugs were dumped at the bottom of the sea coming from one of the neighboring countries, the area was put under surveillance and caught the suspect who came aboard a cruise boat to retrieve the drugs — 49 items of different types believed to be narcotics.

The security authorities have seized from the suspect the GPS tracking device. The accused and the seized items have been referred to the competent authorities.

The Public Security Sector of the Farwaniya Security Directorate, during a security campaign in Al Rai have arrested 6 persons whose were staying in the country after the expiry of residence permit and 7 who did not have any proof with them and issued 170 citations for various reasons, reports Al-Rai daily. All those arrested have been referred to the concerned authorities for legal measures to be taken against them.
