KUWAIT CITY, Jan 26: In a decisive maritime operation, the General Department of Coast Guard has apprehended three Iranian nationals accused of engaging in piracy and armed robbery within Kuwaiti territorial waters.

The successful operation is part of the Ministry of Interior’s relentless efforts to safeguard Kuwait’s territorial integrity, protect its economic interests, and maintain maritime security. The drama unfolded when Coast Guard surveillance systems detected an unidentified vessel approaching the Kuwaiti maritime border. Upon intercepting the speedboat, the suspects attempted evasive maneuvers, but swift action by the Coast Guard brought the chase to an end. The vessel was seized, and all three suspects were taken into custody.

Subsequent investigations revealed the individuals’ involvement in multiple acts of piracy and armed assault, including attacks on a Kuwaiti fishing boat and other vessels operating in the area. The suspects have been handed over to the Public Prosecution following the completion of legal and procedural measures.

Reaffirming its unwavering stance on national security, the Ministry of Interior emphasized that it will show zero tolerance toward any threat to Kuwait’s waters or seafarers, vowing that its Coast Guard forces will remain ever vigilant against those who seek to jeopardize the nation’s safety.
