Kuwait Club players celebrate their league Shield victory on the podium.

KUWAIT CITY, May 16: The Kuwait Club secured its sixth consecutive Basketball Premier League Shield title and the 15th in its history with a resounding 107-88 victory over Al-Qadisiya at the Federation Hall, Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Complex.

The league's culmination saw the presence of Dhari Burgess, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Basketball Federation, along with other board members. Burgess honored the winners. Among those attending the basketball league final were Kuwait Club President Khaled Al-Ghanim, club directors, and Sheikh Fahd Talal Al-Fahad, Vice Chairman of Al-Qadisiya Club's Board of Directors.

Since its inception in the 1961-1962 season, six clubs have won the championships, with Al-Qadisiya leading with 23 titles, followed by Kuwait Club with 15, Kazma with 9, and Al-Arabi with 8. Al-Jahra secured the title 5 times, and Al-Sahel once, while the tournament results were annulled in the 2000-2001 sports season.

Dhari Burgess, Chairman of the Federation's Board of Directors, extended congratulations to Kuwait Club's leadership, players, and staff on their victory, highlighting Kuwait Club’s consistent performance throughout the season. He also commended Al-Qadisiya's efforts, noting its return to the finals as a significant addition to the league's competitiveness.

Kuwait Club President Khaled Al-Ghanim expressed pride in the team's accomplishments, praising its consistent success across various competitions. He emphasized the team's status as a powerhouse in Kuwaiti basketball and its readiness to compete in the upcoming Central and West Asian Championships.

Bader Al-Osaimi, Vice Chairman of the Kuwait Club's Board of Directors and Head of the Basketball Authority, lauded the players' resilience across multiple fronts, acknowledging the challenges posed by local, regional, and Asian competitions. He highlighted the team's readiness to represent Kuwait admirably in the upcoming Asian League for West and Central Asia, known as "the Super League," alongside Kazma.

In other news, two Federation Cup quarter-final matches are scheduled for today, with Al-Qadisiya facing Yarmouk at 5:00 pm, followed by Kuwait Club match against Al-Nasr at 7:30 pm .
