ISTANBUL, Jan 28: Kuwait Club concludes its overseas training camp in Türkiye today with its fourth friendly match against Istanbul Municipality, ahead of the team’s return home next Saturday.
During the camp, the team played three previous friendly matches against Bursa Sport, Gebze, and IBB, using the opportunities to refine tactics and team coordination.
Kuwait Club is now preparing to host the 4th West Asian Clubs Volleyball Championship from February 4 to 14. The host team was drawn into Group B alongside Lebanese club Shabab Al-Batroun, Qatar’s Al-Wakra, and Bahrain’s Al-Ahli. Kuwait’s second representative, Burgan, was placed in Group C with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad, Oman’s Al-Seeb, and Bahrain’s Dār Klib. Group A consists of Qatar’s Al-Rayyan, Oman’s Majees, and Iraq’s Ghaz Al-Janoub.
Assistant coach Dr. Abdullah Talib praised the camp’s smooth execution, saying it followed the plan set by the club’s management and technical staff. He noted that players closely followed Brazilian coach Carlos Schwanke’s instructions to maximize the benefits of the camp and friendly matches, ahead of competing for the West Asian title at home in front of their loyal fans.
The team features two foreign professionals, Estonian Vino and Canadian Hogue, with Brazilian Costa joining from Kazma. Additionally, Abdelaziz Al-Anzi returns from his loan at Al-Nasr to reinforce the squad.
