Kuwait Club resumes training at Jaber Al-Mubarak Stadium with a full squad.

KUWAIT CITY, April 27: Kuwait Club resumed training at Jaber Al-Mubarak Stadium with a full squad, as the team stepped up preparations for the AFC Challenge League final against Cambodia’s Svay Rieng on May 13.

The coaching staff, led by Montenegrin coach Nebojša Jovović, had previously granted the players a three-day break following their return from Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, where Kuwait Club completed a successful run in the competition. The team defeated Oman’s Al Shabab 5-3 in the quarter-finals before overcoming Muras United of Kyrgyzstan 2-1 in the semi-finals to secure its place in the final.

Before the start of the first training session, Jovović held a team meeting attended by his assistant coaches and the administrative staff. He stressed the importance of discipline and daily commitment, while also praising the players for their strong performances in Kyrgyzstan and their determination in reaching the final.

Kuwait Club was the first club to officially resume training following the decision of the joint committee formed by the Public Authority for Sport to assess the impact of exceptional circumstances on the sports sector. The committee, chaired by Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Tareq Al-Jalahmah, approved the resumption of training sessions starting Sunday, with timings from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Jovović urged his players to maintain their high level of performance in the final and continue their push for more success, as the club targets a fourth Asian title after previously winning the AFC Cup three times.

The club’s strong showing in the AFC Challenge League has also secured Kuwait an additional direct slot in the competition, along with a place in the AFC Champions League 2 qualifying playoffs for next season, according to the Asian Football Confederation.

This season, Kuwait was represented by two clubs in the AFC Challenge League—Kuwait Club and Al-Arabi—with the latter exiting at the group stage last October.
