Bader Al-Dhayab, President of the Asian Handball Federation

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 4: Kuwait Club has been awarded the hosting rights for the Asian Men's Club League Handball Championship for three successive editions in 2027, 2028 and 2029, following the successful organization of the 28th edition last June.

The tournament, organized by the Asian Handball Federation (AHF), serves as a qualifying competition for the IHF Men's Club World Championship (Super Globe).

The decision was made at the AHF Executive Committee meeting held in Kuwait, under the chairmanship of federation president Bader Al-Dhayab. Kuwait Club's organizational record earned the confidence of committee members, particularly following the outstanding success of the previous edition at both the technical and organizational levels.

Al-Dhayab said the club's successful hosting of the 28th edition played a major role in securing the rights to stage the next three tournaments. He praised the club's efforts and organizational standards, describing the decision as recognition of its achievements and commitment to maintaining high standards.

He added that granting Kuwait Club hosting rights for three consecutive years was an important step towards developing the competition further and enhancing its status as one of Asia's premier club tournaments.

Meanwhile, Kuwait Club handball director Sami Al-Hajri congratulated the club's board, headed by Khaled Al-Ghanem, its members and supporters, as well as the Kuwaiti handball community, on securing the hosting rights for the next three editions.

Al-Hajri said the decision reflected the success of the club's organization of last June's championship, particularly the facilities provided and the considerable efforts made by the various organizing committees, which ensured the tournament was delivered to a high standard.

He noted that the successful event had reinforced the AHF's confidence in the club's management and its ability to host the competition over the coming three seasons.

The achievement, he stressed, was not limited to Kuwait Club but represented an important milestone for Kuwaiti handball as a whole, underlining the sport's growing standing and reputation across Asia.

Turning to the team's preparations, Al-Hajri said Kuwait Club's first-team training camp in Cairo was progressing smoothly, with players benefiting from a comprehensive programme in a positive atmosphere.

The camp includes joint training sessions with the Brazilian national team, which is also based in the Egyptian capital. The two sides are scheduled to meet in a friendly match today, Thursday, as part of their preparations to improve their technical and physical readiness ahead of the new competitions.

Al-Hajri added that the team would return to Kuwait next Sunday to continue preparations for the 2025-2026 Kuwait Federation Cup before travelling to Bahrain for the Gulf Club Championship.
