Players celebrate Kuwait Club winning goal.

KUWAIT CITY, April 23: Kuwait Club returned home after booking its place in the AFC Challenge League final against Cambodia’s Svay Rieng with a 2-1 victory over Kyrgyz side Muras United in the semifinal held in Bishkek.

The final will be staged in Kuwait on May 13. The club now stands one step away from a fourth continental title, having previously lifted the AFC Cup three times.

Despite the suspension of domestic football since early March, Kuwait Club delivered a strong response on the pitch, overcoming challenges and difficult conditions to reach another Asian final, underlining its ambition to add more silverware to its continental record.

Meanwhile, Kuwait Football Association Chairman Sheikh Ahmad Al-Yousef congratulated Kuwait Club Chairman Khaled Al-Ghanem, the board, players, and technical and administrative staff, praising their achievement and confirming full federation support ahead of the final

Honorary club president Marzouq Al-Ghanem also celebrated the qualification, posting on “X”: “The summit is ours,” describing the victory as one worthy of the club’s history and stature. He said the Kuwait Club continues to build on its legacy, reaching the final with a deserved win and a winning mentality rooted in major occasions.

He added that the club’s current success reflects a long-standing culture of ambition and excellence, where trophies are not a goal but a tradition, and concluded by looking ahead to the final at home against Svay Rieng, aiming to complete the journey with a title.

Player Amr Abdel Fattah, who was named Man of the Match, credited the entire squad, saying the award reflects collective effort rather than individual performance, stressing that the main objective was reaching the final.

Captain Fahd Al-Hajri praised the team’s spirit and consistency, while thanking the club management for its continuous support.

Ahmed Al-Dhafiri also highlighted the achievement, saying the team is now one step away from a new Asian title, and commended the efforts of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Tareq Al-Jalahma, for facilitating the team’s campaign in the tournament.
