Kuwait Club storms to top with 7-1 rout of Al-Nasr

Kuwait Club players celebrate their resounding win over Al-Nasr.

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 10: Kuwait Club surged to the top of the Zain Premier League with a resounding 7-1 victory over Al-Nasr in the opening match of the fourth round at Ali Sabah Al-Salem Stadium.

The Whites took the lead in the 26th minute when Bahrain international Mohammed Marhoon headed home. Al-Nasr drew level in the 55th minute through an own goal by Kuwait Club defender Omar Gonzalez, but the league champion responded with a devastating second-half display, scoring six unanswered goals.

Ali Hussein restored Kuwait Club’s lead three minutes later, before Yassine Khenissi struck twice in the 64th and 66th minutes. Ahmed Al-Dhafiri extended the advantage in the 74th minute, with Faisal Zayed adding another in the 84th. Omar Abdel Fattah completed the rout in the 89th minute.

The emphatic win lifted Kuwait Club to 10 points, while Al-Nasr remained on six after suffering its second successive defeat.

Elsewhere, Arabi salvaged a 1-1 draw against Kazma at Al-Sadaqa wa Al-Salam Stadium, with new signing Ali Al-Doukhi heading home the equalizer five minutes from time. Shabeeb Al-Khaldi had given Kazma the lead in the 20th minute.

The draw took Kazma to eight points, while Arabi moved to three.

The fourth round concludes today with two fixtures. Sahel takes on Fahaheel at Al-Shabab Stadium at 5:45 pm, followed by Sulaibikhat’s clash with Jahra at Nayef Al-Dabbous Stadium at 8:05 pm.

Sahel, on four points, will be seeking its second victory of the season in the Tenth District derby, while Fahaheel, who has three points, will be equally eager to claim all three points.

Jahra also enters its match looking for a second win after beating Arabi 2-1. Sulaibikhat, with two points, will aim to secure its first victory and move away from the relegation danger zone.

Kuwait Club, Qadsia, Arabi, and Kazma will now turn their attention to their respective continental and regional campaigns.

Qadsia will host Group C of the AFC Challenge League from October 17 to 23, welcoming India’s Goa, Bangladesh’s Fortis, and Tajikistan’s Regar-TadAZ.

Arabi will depart for Tajikistan on Tuesday to compete in Group B during the same period, alongside Syria’s Homs Al-Fida, hosts Istiklol and Lebanon’s Al-Najma.

Kazma travels to Dammam today ahead of Wednesday’s Gulf Club Champions League encounter with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ettifaq.

Meanwhile, Kuwait Club will host Bahrain’s Khalidiya on Wednesday in their opening AFC Champions League Two fixture.
