KUWAIT CITY, May 18: Kuwait Club strengthened its squad ahead of the 28th Asian Men’s Club League Handball Championship by signing Macedonian star Filip Kuzmanovski as the team’s fourth foreign professional for the continental tournament set to take place in Kuwait from June 6-15 at Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex.

“The Whites” already boast a strong foreign lineup featuring Qatari Frankis Marzo, Montenegrin Vladan Lipovina, and Portuguese international Victor Iturriza. Portuguese player Angel Hernandez, currently loaned to the Saudi league, could also return to join the squad if required.

The tournament draw placed host side Kuwait Club in Group B alongside Bahrain’s Al-Najma, Saudi Arabia’s Al-Khaleej, and Qatar’s Al-Arabi in what promises to be one of the competition’s toughest groups. Meanwhile, fellow Kuwaiti representatives Burgan Club were drawn into Group A with Sharjah of the UAE, China’s CHA, and Qatar’s Al-Duhail.

Kuwait Club decided to cancel its overseas training camp due to commitments involving military personnel and student players, choosing instead to hold a local camp that began yesterday and will continue until the championship opener.

Burgan, on the other hand, has launched its training camp in Cairo as part of preparations for its first appearance on the Asian stage. The team is expected to play several friendly matches against Egyptian league clubs during the camp.

Elsewhere, Qadsia SC confirmed the departure of international player Nasser Boukhadra after the expiration of his contract, ending a successful spell in which he delivered standout performances for “The Yellow.”
