Kuwait Club secures West Asia Basketball League final berth

KUWAIT CITY, April 3: Kuwait Club has solidified its position in the final of the West Asia Basketball League for the Gulf region, securing a repeat victory over Kazma with a commanding 122-79 win in the second semi-final match. Kuwait Club will now face off against Manama of Bahrain in the championship clash, who also secured their spot with two consecutive wins against compatriot Muharraq.

The semi-finals followed a playoff format comprising three matches, with the team winning two matches advancing to the final.

With qualification for the final, Kuwait Club has also secured passage to the Asian finals, where teams from the Levant, Iran, and Central Asia will compete. Both finalists advance directly to the next round. Meanwhile, Kazma will face Muharraq in a decisive match, with the winner earning qualification for the continental finals.

Kuwait asserted its dominance early on, led by standout performances from players like Marcus Hunt, Anthony Carr, Turki Hamoud, and Muhammad Adnan. Despite Kazma’s efforts, Kuwait Club maintained control throughout the game, ending the first quarter with a 30-18 lead.

While Kazma showed improvement in the second quarter with notable contributions from Ahmed Al-Balushi and American players Chapman and Leslie, Kuwait Club swiftly regained control. The gap widened to 15 points by halftime, with Kuwait leading 58-43.

Kuwait Club further tightened its grip on the game in the third quarter, capitalizing on Kazma’s fatigue to extend the lead to 32 points (90-58).

The fourth quarter saw Kuwait Club’s absolute superiority on full display, particularly with Fahd Al-Dhafiri’s remarkable performance, scoring four consecutive three-pointers. Contributions from Hunt, Abdul-Rahman Al-Saho, and Imran Johar sealed the victory for Kuwait Club in a dominant fashion.
