KUWAIT CITY, Aug 13: Kuwait Club has strengthened its men’s volleyball team ahead of the 2026-27 season with the appointment of Argentine coach Rubin Velochin and the signing of Brazilian outside hitter Marcus Junior.

Rubin is expected to arrive in Kuwait on August 23, while Marcus Junior will join the squad on August 20 as preparations for the new season continue.

The Argentine coach brings extensive international experience, having previously worked with the national teams of Bahrain, Pakistan, and Venezuela. He has also coached clubs in Germany and Hungary.

Marcus Junior arrives with experience playing in the Arab region, having represented Qatar’s Al-Rayyan, UAE’s Al-Nasr, and Libya’s Al-Ahly. Kuwait Club is hoping the Brazilian will add quality and experience to the squad.

The club has also made two domestic additions, signing Abdulaziz Shaker from Kazma and Talal Al-Salman from Al-Arabi, both on free transfers.

Kuwait Club began its preseason training earlier this month as they target a strong campaign and aims to compete for all available titles.

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s national youth volleyball team suffered a third consecutive defeat at the ongoing Arab Championship in Bahrain, losing 3-0 to the hosts.

The Blues face Jordan today at 5 p.m. before meeting Algeria tomorrow in their final preliminary-round match.
