KUWAIT CITY, June 6: Kuwait Club's first football team is wrapping up its preparations today ahead of their highly anticipated match against Mauritanian Nouadhibou tomorrow. The match serves as the second leg of the second round in the prestigious King Salman Cup for Arab Clubs. Kuwait Club secured a 2-1 victory over Nouadhibou in Nouakchott, which has given them an advantageous position going into the return match. Under the guidance of Serbian coach Boris Boniac, the team's coaching staff is adding the final touches to their game plan and formation for the upcoming clash.
Coach Boris Boniak expressed his confidence in Kuwait Club's readiness to face Nouadhibou, highlighting the advantage gained from winning in their opponent's home stadium. However, Boniak emphasized that the team cannot afford to be complacent, as they faced significant challenges on an artificial turf in the previous match. The return match holds equal importance, as the outcome is far from guaranteed, and surprises are not uncommon in football. "All players are prepared for the encounter, and our aim is to conclude the season with a victory and deliver a strong performance to bring joy to our fans," added Boniak in an exclusive statement to Al-Jarida.
Regarding Firas Al-Khatib winning the title of best coach, Boniak commented on the importance of clear criteria for such awards. While acknowledging Taha Yassin Al-Khunaisi as the tournament's top scorer due to his 20 goals, Boniak stressed that specific criteria must be established to determine the best coach of the 2022-2023 sports season. It is worth noting that Boniak himself was a candidate for the title, having led Kuwait Club to victory in the His Highness the Emir's Cup and the Zain League for the Premier League. Other coaches, including Rosmir Sviko from Bosnia-Arab who won the Crown Prince Cup, and Firas Al-Khatib from Fahaheel, were also recognized for their achievements
