KUWAIT CITY, Sept. 13: Kuwait Club is stepping up preparations in Abu Dhabi for Wednesday’s AFC Champions League Two opener against UAE side Al-Wahda at Al Nahyan Stadium.
The match marks the first Group A fixture for both teams, with Uzbekistan’s Nasaf and Bahrain’s Al-Khaldiya completing the group.
The Kuwait Club delegation arrived in the UAE on Saturday after conducting several training sessions in Kuwait. The team has continued its preparations in Abu Dhabi as coach Firas Al-Khatib looks to make a strong impression in his first continental assignment since taking charge.
Al-Khatib, who began his coaching career four years ago, will be seeking a positive result against an Al-Wahda side that enters the match in a confident mood.
Al-Wahda has won its last three ADNOC Pro League matches, climbing to sixth place with nine points. The winning run has revived its campaign after setbacks in the opening two rounds and moved the team within four points of leaders Al-Jazira and second-placed Al-Ain.
The three-match winning streak is Al-Wahda’s first since September and October 2025, giving the UAE side added confidence ahead of its continental opener.
