Kuwait Club and Bangladesh’s Bashundhara Kings vie for the ball.

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 1: Kuwait Club advanced to the quarterfinals of the Asian Challenge League after a convincing 2-0 win over Bangladesh’s Bashundhara Kings in their final Group B match at Jaber Al-Mubarak Stadium.

With this victory, Kuwait Club topped the group with 7 points, while Bashundhara Kings was eliminated. Lebanon’s Ansar also progressed as the best second-place team after overturning a 1-0 deficit to defeat Oman’s Al-Seeb 2-1.

In contrast, Al-Arabi’s campaign ended after a 1-1 draw against Kyrgyzstan’s Muras United, allowing the latter to advance to the quarterfinals.

The quarterfinals are scheduled over two legs on March 4 and 11, with Kuwait Club set to face Oman’s Al-Shabab, and Muras United taking on Ansar.

Montenegrin coach Nebojša Jovović praised his squad’s determination, emphasizing that Kuwait Club delivered strong performances despite a hectic schedule of four matches in just 11 days. He noted that fatigue and minor injuries forced him to rest some players but applauded the team’s resilience.

Player Mohammed Daham, who earned Man of the Match honors, said receiving the award for the second time in three games reflected the collective effort of the team. He added that with Bashundhara Kings already eliminated, the team could play with less pressure and still secure the win.
