KUWAIT CITY, Jan 5: Kuwait continued to lead the preliminary round of the volleyball league, with a convincing 3-0 win over Yarmouk. The match, held at the Volleyball Federation Hall in the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex, ended with set scores of 25-11, 25-22, and 25-22. With this victory, Kuwait Club extended its lead at the top of the standings with 17 points, while Yarmouk remains in eighth place with three points.
In another match from Round 6, Burgan defeated Al-Nasr 3-1, winning the sets 25-22, 23-25, 25-17, 25-22. This is Burgan’s second victory in six league matches, following losses in their first four games. They had also beaten Al-Shabab in the previous round. Burgan’s total now stands at seven points, while Al-Nasr has yet to earn a point.
Both Kuwait Club and Burgan are set to participate in the West Asia Club Championship, hosted by Kuwait Club next month. Some league matches were scheduled early to allow both teams to prepare for the international tournament.
