KUWAIT CITY, Oct 22: The sixth round of the Zain Premier League begins today with two matches, as Kazma hosts Sulaibikhat at Al-Sadaqa Wal-Salam Stadium at 5:35 pm, followed by Kuwait Club’s away clash against Tadamon at 7:50 pm.
The round continues on Saturday with Salmiya taking on Jahra at Thamer Stadium at 5:35 pm, before Sahel meets Nasr at Nayef Al-Dabbous Stadium at 7:50 pm.
The Football Association’s Competitions Committee has postponed the matches between Qadsia and Shabab, and Arabi and Fahaheel, until Tuesday due to the Yellow and Green teams’ commitments in the AFC Challenge League.
Second-placed Kazma, on 11 points, will aim to secure another victory and keep the pressure on leader Kuwait Club as it pursues a league title that has eluded it for many years.
Sulaibikhat, with three points and sitting 11th, will look to bounce back from its 7-1 defeat to Kuwait Club in the previous round and spring a surprise by claiming its first win of the season.
League leader Kuwait Club, with 13 points, will seek to extend its winning run and strengthen its defence when it visits Tadamon. Victory would also provide a timely morale boost ahead of its trip to Uzbekistan to face Nasaf Qarshi in the AFC Champions League Two.
Tadamon, meanwhile, will hope to end its losing streak and get its campaign back on track. The Farwaniya-based side has lost all five matches and remains bottom of the standings with no points, but even a draw against the defending champion could provide a much-needed boost.
Salmiya will seek to return to winning ways and strengthen its position among the contenders on Saturday. The six-point side faces Jahra, who has four points and will be eager to bounce back from its1-0 loss to Kazma.
In the other fixture, Nasr will target its fourth victory of the campaign as it looks to build on its nine-point tally. Sahel, also on four points, will be determined to get a positive result and stay safe in the standings.
