KUWAIT CITY, Nov 3: Kuwait Club and Al-Arabi return to domestic action following their campaigns in the AFC Challenge League. Kuwait Club will host Al-Nasr at Jaber Al-Mubarak Stadium at 5:25 PM, while Al-Arabi) welcomes Al-Jahra at 7:40 PM at Sabah Al-Salem Stadium, in the final matches of Round 7 of the Zain Premier League.
KuwaitClub has already secured a spot in the Challenge League quarterfinals, while Al-Arabi was eliminated in the group stage. Both matches had been postponed from Round 6 and rescheduled for today from Round 7.
League leader Kuwait Club, with 13 points, will look to claim its fifth win of the season and continue topping the table. The team has been in excellent form, going unbeaten in the league with just one draw against second-placed Al-Arabi, and will aim to take advantage of Al-Nasr’s struggles.
Al-Nasr remains bottom of the table with zero points, having failed to score in the first six rounds apart from a single goal. Reports suggest that Tunisian coach Jamel Belkacem may be replaced by Serbian coach Petcha due to the team’s poor run.
Second-placed Al-Arabi, with 11 points, is determined to bounce back after a disappointing exit from the Challenge League group stage. With a postponed match against Al-Tadamon still pending, any result short of a win today could see it lose its second-place standing, now tied on points with Qadsia. Coach Marco Peix is aware that a slip-up could put his position at risk.
Meanwhile, Al-Jahra, eighth with 7 points, hopes to continue its recent momentum, having won two of the last two rounds, giving it a cushion from the relegation zone.
