Kuwait Club launches preseason after trophy-laden handball campaign

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 15: Kuwait Club’s first-team handball squad begins its preparations for the 2026-27 season today, with the White starting training at the club’s indoor hall under Brazilian head coach Marcos Oliveira.

The team enters the new campaign determined to build on last season’s success, having secured the league, Federation Cup, and Super Cup titles. The coaching staff will focus on maintaining the team’s winning momentum while completing preparations for the new season.

Kuwait Club has strengthened its squad by renewing the contract of Montenegrin international Vladan Lipovina and signing Bahraini player Mohammed Habib.

The club has also brought back Mohammed Bayas, Mohammed Ghannafour, and Hussam Matouq after their loan spells with Burgan. Haider Dashti has joined from Al-Salmiya to further bolster the squad.

At the same time, several players have departed. Qatar’s Frankis Marzo and Portugal’s Victor Iturriza have left, along with Kuwaiti players Mohammed Amer, Mishari Sawan, Yaqoub Al-Asiri, Mohammed Al-Boushi, Fahad Abdulhadi, Mishal Taha, and Ali Safar. While some have found new clubs, others are yet to decide on their next destinations.

The team manager, Sameh Al-Hajri, said the club’s management and handball department, together with the technical and administrative staff and players, are committed to ensuring the team enjoys an ideal preseason.

He said preparations would cover all technical, physical, and administrative aspects, with everyone determined to maximize the benefit of the training period and reach the required level of readiness before the season begins.

Al-Hajri emphasized that Kuwait’s handball team aims to remain a strong contender for every domestic and international trophy, reflecting the ambitions of the club’s management and supporters.

“Everyone is working with one spirit and a shared commitment to achieve our goals in the coming season,” he said.
