Kuwait Club player soars over an opponent to score.

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 3: Kuwait Club claimed a 107–101 victory over Bahrain’s Muharraq in the first leg of the West Asia Super League (WASL) Gulf zone semifinals at Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex.

The two sides will meet again on February 9 in Manama, Bahrain. Kuwait Club needs a win to secure a semifinal spot, while a Muharraq victory would push the contest to a deciding match on February 16 in Kuwait. The winner will face Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad in the semifinals. Meanwhile, Qatar’s Al-Arabi will take on the UAE’s Shabab Al-Ahli, with the victor set to meet Al-Ula from Saudi Arabia.

Elsewhere, Al-Qadsia faces a straightforward clash against Al-Sahel tonight at 7:30 pm in Round 13 of the domestic league, while Al-Arabi and Al-Nasr will meet at 5:00 pm. Both games will take place at the Federation Hall in the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex.

Al-Qadsia, second in the standings with 22 points, is the favorite against seventh-placed Al-Sahel, who has 14 points. In contrast, the encounter between sixth-placed Al-Nasr (15 points) and eighth-placed Al-Arabi (13 points) promises a closer contest.

The league follows a three-round format, with the top four teams advancing to the semifinals, played as best-of-three series.
