KUWAIT CITY, Jan 26: Kuwait Club reinforced its dominance in the Zain Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Al-Arabi in the 12th round, keeping a firm grip on the top spot. The win brings the Kuwait Club closer to securing its fifth consecutive league title and the 21st in the club’s history.
Kuwait Club now has 32 points, eight clear of second-place Al-Arabi, with 11 rounds remaining. Maintaining an undefeated record with 10 wins and 2 draws, the team has shown it remains a difficult team to beat, fully living up to its championship reputation.
Al-Arabi, meanwhile, suffered a setback in the title race, now closer to the mid-table teams ranked third to sixth, and will need to improve performance to stay competitive.
Al-Qadsia climbed to third place with 21 points after defeating Al-Fahaheel 2-0, while Al-Fahaheel dropped to fifth with 17 points. Kazma recorded a late 2-1 win over Al-Jahra to reach fourth place with 18 points, putting them in contention for third if they beat Al-Tadamon in their postponed match. Al-Jahra remains eighth with 7 points.
Al-Salmiya claimed sixth place with 17 points after bouncing back with a 3-1 win over Al-Tadamon, recovering from two defeats and four draws. Meanwhile, Farwaniya SC sits last with 5 points.
In the lower table, Al-Nasr drew 1-1 with seventh-place Al-Shabab, while Al-Ahmadi earned a crucial point against Jleeb.
