BEIRUT, Oct 5: Kuwait Club finished fourth in the West Asia Super League (WASL) after losing 93-79 to Saudi Arabia’s AlUla in the third-place playoff the day before yesterday.

Lebanon’s Al Riyadi claimed the title after beating compatriots Sagesse 75-67 in the final in Beirut.

Fourth place was below Kuwait Club’s expectations, with the team aiming to secure a place on the podium. Despite showing good form in several matches, they fell short of their target.

Kuwait Club had bolstered its squad before the tournament by signing four foreign players — Americans Chinanu Onuaku, Christian Brown and Day-Day Granit, and Palestinian Sani Sakakini — in a bid to compete for the title.

However, while the team boasts a strong roster and produced competitive performances in most games, success at this level requires greater attention to detail and better execution of opportunities in crucial moments.

Serbian coach Dusan also came under scrutiny for failing to guide the team to its objective. In some key games, he appeared to struggle with the demands of high-pressure encounters, particularly in the knockout stages, where quick tactical adjustments and accurate reading of the opposition can prove decisive.
