RIYADH, Jan 7: Kuwait Club suffered a heavy 58-88 defeat against Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ula in a Group One clash of the West Asian Basketball League for the Gulf region at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz.
With the win, Al-Ula topped the group with eight points, edging out Kuwait, which remains second on point differential. Sharjah of the UAE is third with six points, while Al-Arabi of Qatar sits fourth with five points.

Kuwait Club, the reigning Arab champion, struggled to find its rhythm, allowing Al-Ula to dominate from the opening tip. The first quarter ended 15 points in favor of the hosts, and by halftime, Al-Ula led 40-26.
Kuwait Club’s usual strength in three-point shooting failed to materialize, and an anticipated third-quarter comeback never came, as Al-Ula extended its lead to 70-41. The fourth quarter saw no improvement, and the match concluded with a decisive Saudi victory.

French player Geoffrey Lauvergne led Kuwait’s scoring with 18 points, followed by American Charlie Moore with 17, and Alexander Al-Ghais with eight points. American professional Jamal Jones went scoreless despite logging over 26 minutes on the court.
