Kuwait Club eyes step towards knockout stage

High spirits at Kuwait Club training session.

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 1: Kuwait Club has stepped up preparations for Wednesday's home clash against Uzbekistan's Nasaf Qarshi in the fourth round of Group A in the AFC Champions League Two.

Coach Firas Al-Khatib has raised the intensity of training as the Whites seek another victory to strengthen their bid for a place in the knockout stage.

Kuwait Club is second in the standings with six points, three behind leader Al-Wahda of the UAE. Bahrain's Khalidiya and Nasaf share third place with one point each.

The Whites need to win their remaining two fixtures, while also hoping Al-Wahda beats or draws with Khalidiya, to guarantee qualification for the next round.

All players have attended the latest training sessions, with the squad displaying high morale and confidence following two successive victories.

Kuwait Club opened its campaign with a 3-2 defeat to Al-Wahda but recovered with a 3-1 win over Khalidiya before recording a valuable 1-0 away victory against Nasaf in Uzbekistan last Wednesday.
