KUWAIT CITY, Sept 30: Kuwait Club emerged as the biggest winner in the sixth round of the Zain Premier League, capitalizing on key results, particularly in its top-of-the-table clash against Al-Arabi, its former joint leader.
The "Whites" triumphed over Al-Arabi with a 2-0 victory, pushing its points tally to 18 and breaking the tie with the "Greens" at the top, who now remain in second place with 15 points. Kuwait Club's win not only secured its place at the summit but also extended its lead by three points over the nearest rival. Additionally, it maintained its defensive record with a fourth clean sheet in the competition and solidified its position as the best-attacking team in the league.
In his debut match, Mauritanian Abdullah Mahmoud received two yellow cards within 15 minutes, leaving his team to play with ten men for much of the game. The loss marked Al-Arabi's first defeat of the season.
Elsewhere, third-placed Al-Salmiya (11 points) recorded their second consecutive draw, this time a 1-1 stalemate against Khaitan, who sit in seventh place with 7 points. Despite the draw, Al-Salmiya managed to retain its spot in third.
Al-Fahaheel (10 points) jumped to fourth place after a dominant 4-0 victory over Kazma, a result that put the "Orange" in a precarious position, dropping it to eighth place with just 4 points.
Al-Qadsiya (7 points) had a productive round, rebounding from a series of defeats to beat Al-Tadamon 3-1, climbing to fifth place and swapping positions with Al-Tadamon, who fell to sixth. While this position doesn't align with Al-Qadsiya's storied history, the win provides a morale boost ahead of the competition's resumption on October 18.
Al-Nasr and Al-Yarmouk played out a 2-2 draw, leaving Al-Nasr in ninth place with 4 points, just ahead of bottom-placed Al-Yarmouk. The league will pause for 18 days, with play resuming on October 18 for the seventh round. The break is due to Kuwait's national team participating in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, with matches against Oman and Palestine scheduled for October 10 and 15.
