KUWAIT CITY, Dec 21: Kuwait Club secured a hard-fought 106-100 victory over Kazma after overtime, following a 91-91 tie at the end of regulation, in a postponed match that wrapped up the first round of the basketball league. In another rescheduled game, Qadsia defeated Al-Sulaibikhat 106-92.
After the first round, Kuwait Club leads the standings with 14 points from 7 wins. Kazma and Qadsia follow with 12 points each from 5 wins and 2 losses. Al-Qurain and Al-Sulaibikhat have 11 points each, Al-Nasr 9, Al-Sahel 8, and Al-Arabi 7 points from 7 straight losses.
The matchup between Kuwait Club and Kazma was intense from the start. The first quarter ended tied at 24-24, and the second quarter saw Kazma take a slim 51-48 halftime lead. Kuwait Club reclaimed a narrow advantage by the end of the third quarter at 70-68. The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth battle, with Kazma briefly leading 91-89 in the final seconds. Kuwait Club managed to score a buzzer-beater to force overtime, where they dominated the extra period to clinch a 106-100 win.
Meanwhile, Qadsia claimed an important victory over Al-Sulaibikhat, with quarter scores of 21-19, 47-47, 77-59, and a final score of 106-92.
