KUWAIT CITY, Aug 29: In the opening games of the second round of the (Zain) Football League, Kuwait Club secured a strong victory against Kazma, prevailing with a 5-2 scoreline. This triumph further solidified their position at the top of the league, now holding a commanding six-point lead.
The initial half of the match showcased an intense battle, with both teams trading goals right from the outset. Just three minutes into the game, Kuwait took the lead with a goal from their player Muhammad Marhoon. However, the response from Kazma, nicknamed "Al-Orange," was swift, as Nawaf Al-Khalidi netted an equalizer in the eighth minute. Not to be outdone, Kazma surged ahead with a second goal courtesy of Nasser Lafi in the 12th minute. As the first half came to a close, and with seven minutes of added time, Kuwait made a stunning comeback by scoring three consecutive goals. This remarkable turnaround was orchestrated by Ahmed Al-Dhafiri, who netted two goals, and Ali Hussein.
As the game entered the second half, Kazma launched determined attacks in an effort to level the score. However, their efforts were consistently met with a solid defensive stance and effective midfield control from Kuwait. Despite their best attempts, Kazma could not find the breakthrough they sought.
In the dying moments of the match, Kuwait delivered the final blow with Muhammad Farih scoring their fifth goal in the 88th minute. With this, the match concluded, and "Al-Abyad" (The Whites) earned a well-deserved three points.
With this win, Kuwait Club's total points tally increased to six, establishing their dominant lead in the league standings. Meanwhile, Kazma remained with a single point to their name.
The ongoing tournament fixtures are set to conclude tomorrow, featuring matches between Al-Salmiya and Al-Nasr, as well as Al-Jahra against Al-Qadisiyah. The current round will wrap up the day after tomorrow, on Thursday, with Al-Shabab hosting their Arab counterpart and a match between Khaitan and Al-Fahaheel.
