Kuwait Club beat Asian handball champions Qatar’s Al-Arabi to reach final

JEDDAH, June 19: Kuwaiti outfit Al-Kuwait booked their place in the Asian Men’s Club Handball League final after edging the champions Al-Arabi of Qatar in a 23-22 victory in Jeddah on Saturday. The finalists await the winner of the opposing semifinal between Al-Duhail of Qatar and Al-Najma of Bahrain.

The triumphant Kuwaiti side also saw their goalkeeper Ali Safar win man of the match for his heroics in keeping the champions at bay. Speaking to KUNA following the game, Al-Kuwait’s spokesman Saad Al-Shemmeri praised the side’s “determination and sacrifice” alongside the dedication of backroom staff. He said the side go into Monday’s final with their goal set on “delighting the fans and winning the illustrious title.” (KUNA)
