KUWAIT CITY, Oct 13: Kuwait Club and Qadsia have secured their places in the Super Cup Basketball final following exciting semifinal wins. Qadsia narrowly defeated Kazma 94-93 in overtime after a tied 83-83 at the end of regulation, while Kuwait SC comfortably beat Al-Qurain 111-88.
This season, the Kuwait Basketball Association introduced a new Super Cup format, featuring the top four teams from last season’s league standings, replacing the previous system that involved only the league and cup champions.
The Qadsia vs. Kazma match was fiercely contested from start to finish, with both teams trading leads throughout. Qadsia forced overtime with a last-minute basket in regulation and ultimately clinched victory in the final seconds of extra time, earning a place in the final against Kuwait Club, the reigning Arab champions.
In the other semifinal, American player Charlie Moore led Kuwait Club with an impressive 32-point performance, guiding his team to a comfortable win.
In a major roster move, Kuwait Club has signed French center Joffrey Lauvergne to bolster its squad for the new season. Lauvergne brings a wealth of experience, having previously played in the NBA with the Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs, and Oklahoma City Thunder.
