Officials celebrate on the touchline.

KUWAIT CITY, May 28: The 2023-2024 sports season concluded recently, bringing a mix of triumph and disappointment for various clubs. The season ended on a high note for Kuwait Club and Al-Qadisiya, with Kuwait Club securing the Zain Premier League title and the Super Cup, while Al-Qadisiya claimed the Amir's Cup.

Kuwait Club and Al-Qadisiya were not the only clubs to find success. Yarmouk and Al-Tadamon also experienced a "sweet" season by earning promotion to the Premier League. In contrast, Al-Jahra and Al-Shabab faced relegation to the First Division, marking a disappointing end to their campaigns. Al-Arabi emerged as the season's most heartbroken club, narrowly missing out on the league title in the penultimate round after drawing with Al-Qadisiya.

This season saw remarkable achievements. Kuwait Club won the title undefeated, scoring 72 goals and boasting the best defense with only 21 goals conceded. It finished 10 points ahead of its closest rival, an improvement from the previous season's six-point margin.

Al-Arabi’s Moroccan professional Hamza Khaba topped the league's scoring chart with 21 goals, just one more than Colombian Al-Nasr player Hansel Zapata. Among local players, Al-Qadisiya's Badr Al-Mutawa and Kuwait Club’s Mohamed Daham were joint top scorers with 13 goals each.

Despite various significant events, the standout moment came from Al-Jahra's team manager, Abdulaziz Madloul. His reaction during the March 6 match against Khaitan, in the final round of the Al-Tajama League, left a lasting impression. Needing a win to stay in the Premier League, Al-Jahra was down until Igor equalized in the 88th minute, followed by Badr Al-Enezi's winning goal in the 90th minute. Madloul's jubilant sprint to the corner flag epitomized the emotional highs of the season.

Although Al-Jahra failed to remain in the Premier League, the passion and dedication displayed by Madloul highlighted his deep love for the club. His commitment and loyalty shone through despite the numerous challenges Al-Jahra faced throughout the season.

The 2023-2024 season was a testament to the highs and lows of football, showcasing the joy of victory and the pain of near misses.
