Kuwait Club and Al-Fahaheel players battle for the ball.

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 29: The battle for the Zain Premier League title remains intense as Kuwait Club and Al-Arabi continued their push following the completion of two postponed sixth-round matches. Al-Arabi, the “White,” cruised to a 5–0 win over Al-Fahaheel, the “Green,” and earned a hard-fought 2–1 victory against Al-Tadamon.

Kuwait Club now has 23 points, trailing Al-Arabi by three points, keeping the championship race tight.

Kuwait Club President Khaled Al-Ghanem praised his team’s performance against Al-Fahaheel, noting that “the opponent is a strong team with talented players and a competent coaching staff.”

He highlighted the club’s long-standing achievements, saying: “Kuwait Club’s success began in 2002 under former president Marzouq Al-Ghanem, continued under Abdulaziz Al-Marzouq, and has reached this stage today. Our administrative and sports system is functioning effectively.”

Al-Ghanem confirmed that Faisal Zayed will remain with Kuwait Club, adding, “Zayed has a three-year contract with the club. Our relationship is more than just contractual.”

He also expressed hope that the club’s rising ranking will improve its chances of participating in the AFC Champions League. Regarding his presence at Mohammed Al-Hamad Stadium, he said, “I have returned to my rightful place after the law supported me. My return to the stadiums is unquestionable.”

Al-Arabi coach Nasser Al-Shatti admitted that the team faced a tough challenge against Al-Tadamun. “We knew this match would be difficult, especially after losing the Amir Cup final,” he said. He also noted that the upcoming schedule will be demanding due to limited player availability caused by injuries.

Despite the challenges, Al-Shatti expressed confidence in his squad, believing they can continue to deliver strong results. He also warned that the January transfer window would be “challenging,” citing the need to replace underperforming foreign players and the upcoming expiration of contracts for several local players who may seek opportunities with other clubs.

Shabab Club assistant coach Malik John confirmed that the team’s goalkeeper, Al-Qannai, will not be allowed to move to Al-Qadsia, rejecting his request to leave for the rival club.
