KUWAIT CITY, Oct 29: Kuwait Club and Al-Arabi are wrapping up their final training sessions ahead of tomorrow’s third and last group-stage matches of the Asian Challenge League. Kuwait Club will face Bangladesh’s Bashundhara Kings, while Al-Arabi takes on Kyrgyz side Ramos United.
Kuwait Club currently leads Group B with 4 points, tied with Oman’s Al-Seeb on points and goal difference after a 1–1 draw earlier this week. A win is essential for Kuwait Club to secure qualification to the next stage.
Al-Arabi, who recently beat Tajikistan’s Regar-TadAZ 2–1, also needs a victory to progress. The team sits second in Group C with 4 points, behind Ramos United on goal difference, after the Kyrgyz side defeated Safa 2–0 in the same round.
Both teams face pressure to win as Turkmenistan’s FC Ten Asir and Oman’s Al-Shabab have already claimed 6 points in Group A, edging closer to the top qualifying positions.
In their previous clash, Al-Seeb opened the scoring against Kuwait Club at Jaber Al-Mubarak Stadium through Abdulaziz Al-Ansari in the 34th minute, before Abdel-Fattah equalized in the 43rd minute.
Montenegrin coach Nebojša Jovović described the Al-Seeb match as “tough against a strong opponent” and confirmed that Kuwait Club will reorganize and prepare carefully for its final group match. “Qualification is in our hands. We need to win without worrying about other results,” he said, expressing confidence in his team’s ability to continue their successful campaign.
Kuwait Club player Abdel-Fattah, named Man of the Match, stressed that proper preparation is key and affirmed the team’s determination to compete for the title.
Al-Arabi’s Portuguese coach, Marco Felis, praised his players’ resilience and determination, noting that their efforts helped the team secure a crucial win. Al-Arabi standout Aziz Nasari, also awarded Man of the Match, highlighted that the squad’s unity and focus on victory were key to achieving the three points.
