DOHA, May 23 (KUNA): Kuwait wrapped up its participation in the 4th Gulf Games in Doha 2026 with an impressive tally of 60 medals, including 14 gold, 17 silver, and 29 bronze medals.
Held from May 11 to 22, the Games saw Kuwait’s athletes produce outstanding performances across 13 sports through a delegation of 120 male and female competitors. Kuwait took part in equestrian show jumping, 3x3 basketball, handball, athletics, bowling, swimming, padel, taekwondo, archery, billiards and snooker, fencing, karate, and shooting.
The Kuwaiti delegation was led by mission director Abdullah Shaaban, assisted by deputy mission director Dr. Souad Al-Faqaan, along with administrators Dr. Hussein Al-Saeed and Ali Mishari.
Shaaban expressed pride in the delegation’s achievements, describing the final medal haul as a fitting reward for the tremendous efforts made throughout the tournament despite challenging circumstances.
He noted that the team faced difficult conditions during the preparation period due to regional developments, which affected readiness ahead of the Games. However, he praised Kuwaiti athletes for once again proving their determination and commitment by overcoming obstacles and competing with passion and loyalty for their country.
Shaaban also extended his gratitude to the Kuwait Olympic Committee, headed by Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, for the continuous support and guidance provided to the delegation, which helped the team overcome difficulties and present Kuwaiti sports in the best possible manner.
He further commended the dedication and hard work of the administrative and technical staff of the sports federations, clubs, and Olympic Committee committees for their vital role in the delegation’s success.
