KUWAIT CITY, Oct 2: Kuwait’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya affirmed on Thursday that the country is closely monitoring the situation surrounding the detention of several Kuwaiti citizens who were aboard the Global Steadfastness Flotilla.

In a statement to KUNA, Al-Yahya stressed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is making every possible effort to ensure the safety of the detained individuals and to secure their prompt release. He reaffirmed that the well-being of Kuwaiti nationals remains a top priority for the government.

“The Ministry is following developments with great interest and will spare no effort to safeguard the lives of Kuwaiti citizens,” Al-Yahya said.

The Global Steadfastness Flotilla — also known as the Sumud Flotilla —set sail earlier this year from Spain with the objective of breaking the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip. The fleet comprises more than 50 vessels and carries hundreds of participants representing over 44 countries.

Al-Yahya concluded by underscoring Kuwait’s firm commitment to protecting its citizens abroad and continuing its diplomatic efforts in coordination with international organizations and relevant parties to resolve the situation swiftly.
