RABAT, July 5: Kuwait's national tennis pair, Essa Qabazard and Bader Al-Abdullah, won the men's doubles title at the Morocco International Professional Tennis Tournament, which concluded in Rabat, earning a gold medal after a standout performance throughout the competition.
The Kuwaiti duo sealed the championship by defeating the tournament's second-seeded French team of Mathieu Champonnier and Edouard Veloslada in the final, rallying to win in three sets.
Abdul Redha Jassim Al-Ghareeb, President of the Kuwait Tennis Federation, praised the achievement, saying it represents another milestone for Kuwaiti sport and reflects the continued progress of the country's tennis program.
He added that the Kuwait delegation, led by national team coach Abdullah Muqaddas, and including players Essa Qabazard, Bader Al-Abdullah, Abdulhamid Mubarak, and Ali Al-Shatti, will head to Bucharest immediately after the event to compete in the Romania International Professional Tennis Tournament.
The upcoming tournament forms part of Kuwait's preparations for the Davis Cup qualifying competition, scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka later this month.
Al-Ghareeb also thanked the Public Authority for Sport for its ongoing support of Kuwait's national teams, emphasizing that its backing has enabled athletes across all age groups to compete regularly in major international tournaments.
