KUWAIT CITY, Aug 25: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has joined Airports Council International (ACI), a move aimed at strengthening Kuwait's presence in the global airports sector and supporting efforts to further develop Kuwait International Airport.
The DGCA said its membership will allow Kuwait to benefit from international best practices, specialized expertise and global experience in airport operations and development.
ACI is the global organization representing airports and airport operators. It comprises 811 member entities representing more than 2,200 airports in over 160 countries, and works to advance the aviation sector in areas including safety, security, operational efficiency, sustainability, service quality and passenger experience.
Through its membership, the DGCA will gain access to a broad international network of airport expertise, as well as studies, industry data and operational benchmarking. Kuwait will also have opportunities to participate in ACI committees, working groups and specialized events focusing on major challenges and emerging trends in the global airports industry.
The membership also opens opportunities to benefit from ACI programs and initiatives covering passenger experience, service quality measurement, operational performance, safety and security, sustainability, digital transformation and cybersecurity.
The DGCA said specialized training and professional development programs offered through ACI could also contribute to strengthening the skills and capabilities of Kuwaiti national personnel working in the civil aviation sector.
ACI membership will further enable Kuwait to exchange experiences and best practices with airports and operators worldwide, particularly in areas related to infrastructure development, passenger services and operational efficiency.
The DGCA said the step supports its plans to develop the Kuwait International Airport system and keep pace with rapid changes in the global aviation industry.
The move is also part of the DGCA's broader strategy to expand Kuwait's participation in specialized international organizations and institutions, strengthen international cooperation and partnerships, and contribute to improving the country's civil aviation sector and the quality of services provided to passengers.
