Kuwait City Could Go Green with Rooftop Hydroponic Farming

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 1: Agricultural expert Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Furaih has called for promoting rooftop farming in city buildings, describing it as an innovative solution to enhance agricultural production in densely populated urban areas, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Al-Furaih explained that readily available spaces, such as the rooftops of parking garages, warehouses, and residential buildings, can be used to establish creative agricultural projects, including greenhouses, to grow crops such as strawberries, lettuce, and leafy greens using hydroponic and aeroponic farming techniques. The most prominent benefits of these agricultural projects include reduced transportation costs, easier access to electricity and water, and their positive impact on improving the urban environment.
