KUWAIT CITY, Sep 22: The Criminal Court sentenced five defendants to seven years in prison and a sixth to three years with hard labor in a case involving the forgery of Kuwaiti citizenship documents. The court also deferred sentencing a girl involved in the case.
The ruling ordered the defendants to return the funds obtained through the crime and imposed fines equivalent to twice the amount involved.
According to the case details, a Kuwaiti defendant was accused of conspiring with several Gulf nationals to impersonate his sons and have them added to his citizenship file.
Investigations found that the first defendant submitted applications seeking to add the other defendants to his citizenship file and provided false information to the relevant official. Based on the information submitted, Kuwaiti documents were subsequently issued to the defendants.
The case was referred to the court after investigations uncovered the alleged manipulation of official records and the use of false information to obtain Kuwaiti citizenship documents.
