KUWAIT CITY, Apr 28: The Central Bank of Kuwait has issued a public warning over fake social media accounts impersonating government ministries and official entities in an attempt to defraud residents through suspicious online links.
According to the advisory, these fraudulent accounts are promoting a so-called “complaint submission service” and directing users to unverified websites designed to steal personal information and financial data.
The Central Bank cautioned the public to remain vigilant and avoid engaging with such accounts or clicking on any unofficial links. It stressed that users should rely only on verified government websites and officially recognized social media accounts for any services or communications related to public institutions.
Authorities warned that these scams are part of a growing trend of cyber fraud attempts targeting individuals through impersonation of trusted government bodies. The bank urged residents to verify sources carefully before sharing any sensitive information online.
The advisory forms part of ongoing efforts by Kuwaiti authorities to enhance cybersecurity awareness and protect the public from digital scams and financial fraud.
