Company owns modern furnaces

KUWAIT CITY, June 24: Executive Vice-Chairman of Kuwait Cement Company Meshal Al-Rashed in a recommendation to resolving the growing waste situation has requested chairman of the Municipal Council to present the company’s initiative to the Environment Committee regarding the use of municipal solid waste annually as alternative fuel in the clinker production plant in its Eastern Shuaiba Industrial Area through safe disposal of waste wherein the government could use incinerators of the company for that purpose, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Al-Rashed in his speech said the company is considered a Kuwaiti public shareholding investment, which was established in 1968. The government of Kuwait represented by the Public Authority for Investment directly and indirectly owns 40 percent of its KD 73 million capital and has three members out of the total 10.

The company is considered the main cement supplier in the country, and the only industrial company that manufactures clinker and cement in full. He pointed out that the company is the only firm that owns modern furnaces that can burn large amounts of municipal solid waste in a scientific manner that meets the specifications of environment safety from the technical perspective.
