Kuwait Cabinet reaffirms commitment to modernizing education and technology use
The Kuwaiti Cabinet held its weekly meeting, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister.

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 28: The Kuwaiti Cabinet held its weekly meeting on Tuesday at Bayan Palace, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister.

Following the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sharida Abdullah Al-Maousherji extended the Cabinet’s congratulations to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, on the upcoming flag-raising ceremony at Bayan Palace on Sunday, February 1. The ceremony marks the start of Kuwait’s 65th National Day and 35th Liberation Day celebrations. The Cabinet also congratulated the Kuwaiti people, praying for continued prosperity, stability, security, and national progress.

The Cabinet also congratulated the Kuwaiti national handball team for qualifying for the 2027 World Cup finals in Germany, following the team’s advancement to the semifinals of the Asian Championship, currently hosted in Kuwait. It extended its congratulations to the Kuwait Handball Federation, the players, and the technical and administrative staff, praising their high morale, determination, and teamwork. The Cabinet noted that the achievement reflects the strong support and patronage provided by Kuwait’s political leadership and commended the Public Authority for Sports for creating optimal conditions for national teams to perform at the highest level.

The Cabinet welcomed the upcoming official visit of Swiss President Guy Parmelin, scheduled for Sunday, February 1, expressing hope that the visit would strengthen bilateral relations and expand opportunities for joint cooperation between Kuwait and Switzerland.

On education, the Cabinet reviewed a visual presentation by Minister of Education Jalal Sayed Abdulmohsen Al-Tabtabai on the results of the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. The presentation, attended by senior ministry officials, highlighted educational performance indicators, curriculum development, the integration of modern technologies and artificial intelligence, and the promotion of national values and skills among students. It also reviewed examination procedures, noting increased discipline and a significant decline in violations, reinforcing fairness and integrity.

The Cabinet affirmed its commitment to developing Kuwait’s education system, including curriculum updates, enhancing teacher competency, and expanding digital transformation to meet global standards and labor market needs. It stressed the importance of fostering innovation, scientific research, and equal access to quality education to prepare future generations for national development.

The Cabinet also reviewed the minutes of the Ministerial Committee for Public Services, approving requests from the Ministry of Islamic Affairs to accept donations from citizens and companies for mosque construction across Kuwait. It also approved a donation from a private agricultural contracting company for the development and maintenance of a mosque garden. The Cabinet expressed gratitude to donors for supporting the State’s efforts in building and maintaining mosques.

The Cabinet mourned the death of Sergeant Mohammed Saad Al-Hajri of the Ministry of Interior’s General Directorate of Correctional Institutions, who died from injuries sustained while performing his duty, offering condolences to his family and praying for his soul.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved the minutes of the Higher Committee for Kuwaiti Citizenship Verification, addressing cases of loss or withdrawal of citizenship in accordance with Law No. 15 of 1959 and its amendments.

The Cabinet reviewed several other items on its agenda, approving some and referring others to relevant ministerial committees for further study and preparation of reports for implementation.
