KUWAIT CITY, May 12: Kuwait’s Cabinet strongly condemned what it described as the infiltration of Bubiyan Island by an armed group linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, demanding that Iran immediately halt what it called illegal and hostile actions threatening regional security and stability.

During its weekly meeting, chaired by His Highness Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah, the Cabinet said the armed group clashed with Kuwaiti armed forces before being arrested. The Cabinet stressed that Iran bears full responsibility for the incident and affirmed Kuwait’s right to self-defense in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.

The Cabinet also listened to a briefing by First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef regarding the confessions of four infiltrators who admitted belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and attempting to enter Kuwait by sea to carry out hostile acts.

Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ali briefed ministers on the latest regional and military developments, including measures taken by the Kuwaiti Armed Forces to monitor and respond to hostile drones detected within Kuwaiti airspace.

The Cabinet reiterated Kuwait’s commitment to the principles of good neighborliness and emphasized its rejection of allowing its territory or airspace to be used for hostile acts against any country.

The ministers praised the efforts of the Interior Ministry, Defense Ministry, Foreign Ministry, and all military, security, and civilian personnel involved in protecting the country’s security and stability.

Separately, the Cabinet was informed that His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah assigned the Prime Minister to head Kuwait’s delegation to the European-Gulf Geopolitical and Investment Summit in Greece from May 14 to 17.

The Cabinet was also briefed on a phone call between the Amir and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, during which Italy expressed support for Kuwait and its measures aimed at preserving sovereignty, security, and stability.

In domestic affairs, the Prime Minister directed ministers to intensify field inspection tours of government service agencies to better understand public needs and adopt a direct communication and open-door policy to enhance transparency and improve government performance.

The Cabinet was further informed of the signing of contracts between three government entities and Turkish company Limak Holding to complete the final stages of the new passenger terminal (T2) project at Kuwait International Airport, describing it as one of the country’s key strategic development projects.
