KUWAIT CITY, Apr 7: The Kuwait Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, strongly condemned recent Iranian attacks targeting multiple sites across the country, including a residential area in the north, power and water desalination plants, the government ministries complex, and a refinery belonging to the Kuwait National Petroleum Company.
During its meeting, the Cabinet was briefed on the latest regional and military developments, describing the attacks as “heinous” and reaffirming that Kuwait’s Armed Forces are carrying out their duties with firmness and efficiency in confronting the situation. The Cabinet expressed pride in the efforts of state institutions across all sectors, highlighting their role in maintaining security, stability, and the continuity of essential services.
The Cabinet urged citizens and residents to strictly comply with all instructions issued by military, security, and civil authorities, warning that failure to do so could result in legal consequences. It emphasized that public cooperation is essential to ensure safety during the current circumstances.
On the diplomatic front, the Cabinet reviewed ongoing efforts led by Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Kuwait’s diplomatic missions abroad to address the crisis and coordinate with international partners. This included participation in ministerial discussions related to the Strait of Hormuz, as well as official visits to regional countries and consultations with foreign ministers.
The Cabinet was also briefed on international support for Kuwait, including a message received by the Amir, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, from King Charles III, reaffirming the United Kingdom’s commitment to Kuwait’s security and stability. Additionally, a phone call between Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer reiterated strong condemnation of the attacks and discussed cooperation measures, including the deployment of British air defense systems in Kuwait.
Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ali Al-Sabah also presented an update on field inspections of military units and installations, confirming high levels of readiness and preparedness across the Armed Forces.
The Cabinet reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding national security and continuing coordination at both the domestic and international levels to address the evolving situation.
