KUWAIT CITY, Mar 31: Kuwait’s Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, on Tuesday reviewed the latest military, political, and diplomatic developments as tensions escalate following Iranian attacks targeting the country.
During the meeting, the Cabinet strongly condemned the targeting of vital civilian infrastructure with drones and cruise missiles, which resulted in casualties, injuries, and material damage, describing the attacks as blatant violations of Kuwait’s sovereignty.
The Cabinet was briefed by Defense Minister Abdullah Al-Ali Al-Sabah on the current military situation, while Oil Minister Tariq Al-Roumi outlined details of the fire aboard the Kuwaiti crude oil tanker “Al-Salmi,” which was hit in what officials described as a direct Iranian attack.
Foreign Minister Jarrah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah briefed the Cabinet on ongoing diplomatic efforts, including the summoning of Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Tutunji for the third time and Iraqi Chargé d’Affaires Zaid Shanshul for the second time, with formal protest notes delivered over continued attacks.
The Cabinet also reviewed the actions of Kuwait’s diplomatic missions abroad and the outcomes of recent regional and international engagements, including discussions within the Arab League and joint meetings involving Gulf Cooperation Council states, Jordan, and Russia.
In addition, the Cabinet was informed of calls held by Crown Prince Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah with leaders of friendly and allied nations, who expressed strong condemnation of the attacks and support for Kuwait’s measures to safeguard its security.
Amid the rapidly evolving situation, the Cabinet ordered raising the level of national preparedness to the highest degree to ensure the safety of citizens and residents and secure essential supplies.
The government affirmed it remains in continuous session to monitor developments and coordinate responses across all sectors as the situation unfolds.
