The Kuwaiti Cabinet approved a draft decree-law regarding governmental sukuk and referred it to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for final approval. This came during the Cabinet’s weekly meeting, held under the chairmanship of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. At the onset of the meeting, the Cabinet was briefed on a written letter received by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah from Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi regarding fraternal relations between both countries and means to promote and develop them across various fields. The letter was delivered to His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah by Yemeni Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Afrah Al-Zouba.
The Cabinet was also apprised of a letter sent by His Highness the Amir to South Korean President Lee Jae Myung concerning bilateral relations, ways to strengthen them, and the current regional developments. The letter was delivered by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to his South Korean counterpart Cho Hyun during their meeting in Seoul, as part of the Kuwaiti minister’s official visit to the Republic of Korea. The meeting reviewed the strong relations between the two countries, with both sides affirming their shared commitment to enhancing cooperation and coordination across various fields and at all levels, in a manner that advances bilateral ties and serves their mutual interests. The ministers were then briefed on His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s written message to Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi concerning the historical and close ties between the two friendly countries and peoples, ways of enhancing and developing them, as well as current developments in the region. His Highness the Amir’s message was delivered by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al- Sabah during his meeting with the Japanese prime minister on Wednesday, as part of his official visit to the Japanese capital, Tokyo. In addition, the ministers were apprised of an invitation received by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah from UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al-Maktoum to attend the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Summit. The Cabinet also reviewed the meeting between His Highness the Prime and Lebanese Ambassador in Kuwait Ghady El-Khoury in presence of His Highness the Prime Minister’s Diwan Acting Chief Sheikh Khaled Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Sabah. The Cabinet expressed Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the heinous Iranian attack on the sisterly United Arab Emirates using a drone in a blatant violation of its sovereignty and a threat to the security and stability of the region. It reiterated Kuwait’s full solidarity with the sisterly United Arab Emirates, affirming its support and backing for all measures it takes to safeguard its sovereignty and protect its security and territorial integrity.
Furthermore, the Cabinet expressed Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the Iranian attacks on Jordan early Monday with several missiles, as a blatant violation of Jordan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and a threat to regional security and stability. It reaffirmed Kuwait’s full solidarity with Jordan, support for its measures to safeguard its sovereignty, and efforts to protect its security and territorial integrity. Meanwhile, the ministers were briefed on Kuwaiti Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al- Sabah’s official visit to Pakistan, where a joint defense and military cooperation agreement was concluded. The agreement was signed by the Kuwaiti minister and his Pakistani counterpart Khawaja Muhammad Asif in the presence of Chief of the General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army, Lieu. Gen. Khaled Al-Shuraiaan, and Kuwaiti Ambassador in Islamabad Nassar Al-Mutairi. The agreement marks a significant milestone in the military and defense cooperation between the two countries, as it provides a framework to enhance operational coordination, exchange expertise, and raise the level of readiness and integration between the armed forces, serving common interests and contributing to regional security and stability. Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah kept the Cabinet posted on his ministry’s political and diplomatic efforts to cope with the latest regional and international developments. The minister also apprised his colleagues of the outcomes of his recent visit to Beijing, where he was welcomed by Chinese Vice President Han Zheng. During the meeting, Sheikh Jarrah conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, to President of China Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and Vice President Han Zheng.
The meeting reviewed the historical bilateral relations between the two countries and their friendly peoples, and discussed ways to develop and enhance the existing strategic partnership in various fields to achieve the common interests of both nations. They also discussed the latest regional and international developments and exchanged views on issues of mutual concern. The minister briefed the Cabinet on the outcomes of his official visit to South Korea, where he met with National Security Advisor Wi Sung-lac. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the latest regional developments and efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the region, and sought ways to strengthen the ties between both countries in various fields. He also elaborated on his meeting with former United Nations Secretary-General and President of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Ban Ki-moon during his official visit to Seoul. During the meeting, the two sides discussed the latest regional and international developments and exchanged views on them.
The foreign minister then explained the outcomes of his recent visit to Japan, where he met with his Japanese counterpart Toshimitsu Motegi. During the meeting, they reviewed the historical and close relations between the two friendly countries and their growing development following their elevation last year to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership. The two sides also stressed the significance of this year as a milestone in Kuwait-Japan relations, coinciding with the 56th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Finally, the minister explained the findings of his recent phone calls to several foreign ministers of sisterly and friendly countries, which highlighted the ongoing regional developments and diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions, bolstering regional security and stability and ensuring the safety and freedom of maritime navigation.(KUNA)
