KUWAIT CITY, May 5: Under the direct supervision of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, Kuwait’s Criminal Security Sector, represented by the General Department for Anti-Narcotics, has dismantled a fully equipped indoor marijuana farm and arrested four Kuwaiti nationals in a preemptive security operation.
Authorities said the arrests followed intensive surveillance and monitoring, backed by legal warrants. A raid on one suspect’s residence uncovered an advanced cultivation setup in Sabah Al Ahmed area, where officers seized around 70 marijuana seedlings along with approximately one kilogram of processed cannabis ready for distribution.
In addition to narcotics, security personnel also found a firearm and ammunition at the site, underscoring the seriousness of the criminal activity. The suspects reportedly confessed to the charges and have been detained pending referral to the competent judicial authorities.
The Ministry of Interior confirmed the case is classified as a “serious crime” under Kuwait’s new narcotics law, which imposes strict penalties for drug cultivation with intent to traffic, including life imprisonment or the death penalty, along with fines ranging from KD 100,000 to KD 2 million.
Officials reiterated their commitment to intensifying anti-drug efforts and enforcing the law rigorously to safeguard society from narcotics-related crimes.
