KUWAIT CITY, Jan 2: As part of its ongoing efforts to protect public funds and prevent the misuse of government subsidies, the Criminal Security Sector has seized a warehouse that was being used to smuggle subsidized food supplies out of the country.
According to a statement, the operation was carried out by the General Department of Criminal Investigation, specifically the Land Border Investigations Department, following a report from customs officials at the Salmi border crossing. Customs officers had stopped a vehicle attempting to exit the country and discovered quantities of subsidized food items concealed inside.
Further investigations and security procedures led authorities to form a specialized task force, which subsequently uncovered a warehouse linked to the smuggling operation. The warehouse was operated by several individuals from the Egyptian community and contained large quantities of subsidized food supplies that were prepared for illegal export and sale outside the country.
All necessary legal measures were taken against the suspects, who were referred to the competent authorities for further investigation and prosecution in accordance with the law.
The Ministry of Interior reiterated its firm stance against any attempts to exploit government subsidies, stressing that such practices constitute a direct violation of the law and harm national resources. The ministry affirmed that security and monitoring campaigns will continue across the country to track down violators and curb any actions that undermine the proper distribution of subsidized goods.
The Ministry of Interior also urged the public to cooperate with authorities by reporting any suspicious activities, emphasizing that community participation plays a vital role in safeguarding public funds and protecting the nation’s resources.
