KUWAIT CITY, Jun 9: Kuwait’s General Department for Drug Enforcement Authority has arrested seven suspects in separate drug-related cases as part of ongoing intensive security operations targeting narcotics trafficking networks, the Ministry of Interior said.

The arrests included a Kuwaiti citizen, an Indian national, three Sri Lankan nationals, and two  Bedouns (Stateless). Authorities said the suspects were found in possession of various quantities of narcotics and psychotropic substances prepared for both trafficking and personal use, along with equipment used for packaging and distribution.

According to the Ministry, the seized substances included 2.550 kilograms of hashish, 150 grams of heroin, and 20 grams of methamphetamine, along with large quantities of prescription and controlled medications intended for illegal distribution. These included 6,350 capsules of Lyrica, 500 tablets of Captagon, 50 tablets of Xanax, and 50 tablets of methadone.

Police also confiscated four precision weighing scales and multiple empty nylon bags used for packaging drugs for sale.

During one of the arrest operations, one suspect allegedly resisted law enforcement officers, prompting additional legal action against him, the Ministry said.

All suspects and seized materials have been referred to the competent authorities for legal proceedings.

The Ministry of Interior reiterated its commitment to intensifying security campaigns against drug trafficking, stressing that it will continue to pursue dealers and take strict legal action against anyone involved in the trafficking, promotion, or use of narcotics.

Authorities said the operations reflect ongoing efforts to protect society from the dangers of drugs and dismantle distribution networks operating within the country.
